Just as most of the dance forms have, even ballroom dancing has some specifications and requirements.

Dancing Shoes

One of the most important parts of the ballroom dancing attire is the shoes. The ballroom dancing shoes are those, which the dancers or performers wear while carrying out these dances. Apart from providing with glamour and looks, the shoes also are instrumental in enhancing the dance. Thus it does not come as surprise that there are several types of these shoes both for men and women.

The ballroom dancing shoes are classified into three major categories and thus one can find shoes as per their requirements. The first one is the most common and that is why referred to as the standard type. For men they are black laced up Oxford style shoes with marginal heels. While for women, the shoes come as the closed-toe pump types of shoes. Thus one can choose from the various colors available as per their dress. The second type of dancing shoes is called as the Latin dancing shoes. These types of shoes generally have higher heels and call for precision while dancing. For women the shoes generally have heels ranging from one to three inches. The shoes are open-toe style and the Latin sandal is the most preferred one. When men are concerned, the shoes come with higher heels as well. They are said to be Cuban heels and generally the heels measure to be 1.5 inches tall. However most of the professional dancers use the men’s Latin shoes for the same purpose.

The last type of ballroom dancing shoes is that of practice. These shoes are used for the purpose of practice. The shoes that women wear for such times look very similar to the ones that men wear, with 1.5 inches heels. However such shoes have higher chances of wearing out the heels and that is the reason dancers use heel protectors for keeping the heels safe and ensure longevity of the shoes.
